Sharon Mensah

Hi, my name is Sharon Mensah, and I am the founder of Mensah Health Promotion Services. I have over 30 years experience working within the NHS as a Registered General Nurse, within various fields of health care. Since 2004 I have worked within the School Nursing Team in Calderdale. My role within the school nursing team has been wide and varied, including the formulation and delivery of many health promotion sessions to various age groups, ranging between 4 – 18 years, as well as parents and school staff.

Over the years many changes have taken place within the NHS and the School Nursing service. One main area in which there has been the most dramatic change is around the discontinuation of the delivery of face to face Health Promotion Education across all areas. This I feel is extremely detrimental for both the physical and mental health and well-being of the children and young people of today, and in the future. I am passionate about ensuring we equip them with the best opportunities for a healthier future, promoting healthier lifestyle choices, which in turn will result in improving their lifelong health outcomes.

This passion, along with a personal feeling of responsibility to the children and young people, led me to formulate Mensah Health Promotion Services. Health Promotion sessions, which were previously offered by the School Nursing Service, have been updated and are offered along with the introduction of new upcoming areas of Health Promotion/concerns. We are continually researching upcoming areas of health promotion in a bid to try to keep abreast of more recent health related issues. These upcoming health issues/concerns may have an effect on the health of the children and young people of today, therefore I feel it is imperative we continue to try to improve their health and well-being outcomes now and in the future.

To ensure the child or young person’s voice is heard, we encourage schools to incorporate the outcomes of the Electronic Health Needs Assessment (eHNA) when planning the delivery of Health Promotion, to ensure the sessions of Health Promotion delivered address the needs of the audience it is in intended for. This in turn, will assist schools with their improvement strategy and self-evaluation for OFSTED.

You will find information on this site, detailing the areas of Health Promotion which are currently available. Sessions for Primary Schools, High Schools, Parents and Staff Members are available. Testimonials from schools/individual teachers where I have delivered Health Promotion sessions in the past, are also available.

If you would like to make a booking, obtain more information on any of the above, or have any other areas of Health Promotion not currently covered, which you would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact me by using the Bookings page above.

Many Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I look forward to working with you in the future. 🙂
